Why Facials?

We’re currently living in a time where the words “maintenance”, “self-care”, “clean living” and a vast amount of other terms are floating around. More people seem to be waking up to the fact that they have only been given this one body and this one chance to live a full life. That also means that more people are in tune with taking care of their face and body, inside and out, with preventative techniques that keep one's mind, body and spirit in shape.

Now, this can be done in a variety of ways and it’s really about what resonates with you personally. If you’re short on time or energy, finding preventative techniques that address all 3 of those things is a bonus. Acupuncture, massage, getting a facial or taking a yoga class are really great places to start for a complete experience that takes care of you inside and out.

Of course, it all depends on the person and what their priorities are but in my experience, a few of these goals include results, relaxation and rejuvenation. Skin care treatments should make you feel beautiful on the inside and out. It’s something I refer to as empowerment through skincare. When it comes to facials and facial treatments there are options that are all over the spectrum, so it’s up to you to decide what works best for you but here are a few things to consider.

  1. The goal is to maintain good health, as well as good skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body and it’s our first line of defense against the outside world. If you treat it well with a monthly facial, the skin that gets the most exposure (the face) will also get the vitamins and nutrients it needs to perform well and look great. If you tend to have problem skin, a qualified licensed esthetician can assess, treat and recommend the right type of products and facial treatments for you.

  2. Relaxation heals. True, deep relaxation has the potential to heal many things if you allow it, combining relaxation with the power of touch, essential oils and the right professional products and you’ll be amazed what kinds of results you’ll see after one facial with the right esthetician.

  3. Anti-aging, acne and sensitive skin. These can all be addressed by an experienced esthetician armed with the right tools and products. Facial massage, which includes a variety of stimulating and relaxing techniques including acupressure and lymphatic movement; increase blood circulation, stimulate collagen production and move stagnation out of the skin. Facial products that include enzymes, antioxidants and healing agents benefit the skin even further which results in beautiful skin.

  4. The stress and the skin connection. With the skin being the largest organ, it can also be the most telling of internal issues. Many skin issues are due to stress, food, hormones or a combination of the these. Once you give yourself the time to relax just once a month, the benefits will show almost immediately due to your body detoxifying and moving lymphatic fluid which is what helps give skin that glow.

Facials and facial treatments can help you on your way to overall wellness. Finding the right person, products and experience to get you there can make all the difference in reaching your skin care goals.
